Well, look at what has happened to the Americas since they were occupied (oh sorry 'colonized'). Occupation necessarily causes change. Iraq will change, the question is how.

In the past all of countries that had enough power to toke over other countries were occupying others and made for themselves some colonies. Powerful countries were trying to change somethings like culture, language, etc.
Some countries had/has powerful cultures, so occupiers couldn't change everythings which they wanted.
After WWII allied founded United Nation to avoiding powerful countries (Like Germans) invading some weaker countries.
However, these days US doesn't care to international rules and this is the most important matter for the worldwide's peace.
Nowadays, nobody can't be apathetic about invading, occupying, murdering, etc. because nations are more independent and the most of civilized countries will never accepted these kind of inhumanity activities.
Palestine is a good sample for this situation.
These countries have a different cultural, social,religious and geopolitical backround;these factors can generate results that are utterly diverse.However,Turkey was never a civilizing conqueror,being uncivilized itself,therefore incapable of elevating a conquered nation, it rather took what progressive elements it could absord from those superior culturally it conquered -taking into account its backround-nomads and muslims,a rather regressive combination historicaly,(including Irak-liberated from Turky in 1918,Albania liberatd from Turkey in the Balkan wars of 1912-1913).Irak now is not conquered by USA,but it suffers a temporary military occupation completely different from conquest(no civil administration
of the conqueror,no monetary profit as a direct result of the occupation)and sooner or later it will recover completly

Arabs(only one person in history managed to unite the Arabs from their destructive fraction fighting-Salah-el-Din
or Saladin as we got to know him).
