Question: We all know that America is one of the richest-most powerful nation on earth... but America's also one of the most hated nation on earth, too. Oww... such an irony...
What do you think yourself as American then...?
Answers: I am proud to be an American, but I am ashamed of my current President and government.
In the past America has acquited herself proudly with and for our nation friends, and we helped reversed the world's treatment of the vanquished. I hope the rest of the world will forgive our recent actions and instead remember our entry into both World Wars, with little if anything to gain, our nationwide mobilization to produce war materials, Lend Lease, the Marshall Plan, which committed our resources to assist war damaged Europe to get back on her feet, war debt forgiveness, and our efforts to stablize the defeated German and Japanese economies after WW II.
I suspect many young people throughout the world don't know about of those efforts, and I know many of our young Americans are uninformed about them.
I would like to point out, too, that GWB lost the popular vote in 2000, and was elected with 51% of the vote in 2004, so only a bare majority of us fit into the category the London newspapers referred to in their 2004 headline How could ########## (# of US Bush voters) be so stupid? Polls say his support is now at 32%.
We are good people, but sometimes too many of us get duped.

I think everyone should be proud of their country. But if they don't like my country, or like how it's run, they're more than welcome to get the hell out.

I have always been told and taught that it doesn't matter what others think, as long as you are happy. I think that same philosophy applies here. When people hate something, it is usually because they are jealous of it. Applies here also. I am proud to live here and if we were hated that much, why would everybody be wanting to come here illegally?

It's idiots like him that make me ashamed to be an american. We are destroying the world. We are polluting it and using up its precious recourses. We have the ability to feed millions, yet pay our farmers to destroy their crops or not to grow them at all. We overthrow countries that have oil, but let hundreds of thousands be slaughtered throughout Africa.
Yes, extremely proud to be an American and ex-soldier. I love my country and would be more than happy to go back and serve tommorow if called. The first thing I saw that gave me the respect for America that I have happened during my first over seas duty in Panama. While in front of the american hospital there was a panamanian with leprosy with no help from his country what so ever. Covered with sores and in very poor condition. The hospital staff literaly sprayed him off with a garden hose took him into the hospital and treated this man. You don't see this kind of untreated sickness in this country. God Bless America and don't take it for granted.
