Can anyone help? need information for a war debate?

Question: i need information on the economic side of war. examples of countries that gain financially through war (excluding the iraqi war please). and also facts on how it helps maintain the world population.

even better if you could help if you could give debate-worthy opinions on stuff like how war is necessary at times on the aspects of defence, liberation, technology, political balance.

oh and how at times another country are intolerant of our differences and this eventually leads to war.

thanks.
Answers: Gain financially- the aggressors/ winners. The Roman expansion.
Genghis Khan. War is most often about territory= wealth.

The American war machine regardless of the fighting is profitable in any war. The government has a large stake in the military manufacturing companies and it costs a bill for one stealth bomber (back when they were invented)

It is nominal in terms of the world population effect. Stalin killed 20 million of his people. I think that is a record. whats that as a percentage of 6.5 bill

The financial aspect of war is very interesting. Some people have told me that the reason for the US involvement in WW2 was that there were such significant business interests in Europe at stake.

Apparently the bombing of Pearl harbour may have been a retaliation for US incursion in Japanese waters no go zone = underground pipeline= money

I am staying out of oil. I really believe US went into Kuwait originally to protect the violation of sovereignty.

War is necessary as a defence. Sovereignty of countries is important. Your country is like a bigger and less binding version of your family. Not many people wouldn't defend their family. Sometimes defending your country indirectly is defending your family. WW2 was very very close. All those brave men collectively saved families back home including their own. We would be nazi right now if not for the underdog battle of Britain

LIberation- very debate worthy. Definitely the people within a country should revolt against any oppressor within their country esp government or military. The US constitution demands it against a corrupt government. liberation of a country from a tyrant- only in extreme cases- Heussein, Mugabe! But even then I am not sure. US has to be careful sticking nose in

Technology- irrelevant militarily. Do you mean like antitrust?

War is not necessary wrt political balance. I don't really understand what is being got at with that question. Do you mean like if the states around Israel attacked at once should the US join the war. Yes I think so on moral/ ethical grounds

Countries being intolerant of differences leading to war. Maybe its about to happen in the Middle East. Mabye it happened in Yugoslavia between Croats and Slavs. Or maybe its land they will war about, their hatred is not enough of a reason- yet. Not sure historically

Hope this helps, would be interested in further discussion/ info and what this is for
Everything you ever wanted to know about the economics of war can be found in a brief pamphlet written in 1935 by Major General Smedley Butler, America's highest decorated officer (two Medals of Honor).

It takes about five minutes to read from start to finish and is just as true today as it was when he wrote it over 70 years ago. It will change your outlook on wars forever.

Well, I can tell you that the UN opposition to the Iraqi war was due to the profits that they got from the corrupt oil for food program. They recieved a 2.2% commission for every barrel of oil sold. The food and medicine never got to the people.
