Will Hillary be elected for the same reason as Bill?
Question: My father admits his guilt in voting for Bill the first term due to Bill's promise of National Healthcare... 8 years came and went and there was no National Healthcare(even with Hillary on the committee). Now Hillary is promising the same.
What are the chances she'll actually do it this time? Will you eat your words if she doesn't?
Answers: Im voting for Hillary but I am still undecided on Health Care, so frankly I dont care too much if she passes it or not. Just so long as we get the crazies out of the White House, I will be happy.
Remember, Clinton = 8 years of peace and prosperity, Bush = 8 years of war, economic turnmoil. I think I will vote Clinton.
anybody but hillary
All politicians are elected on the basis of how convincing their lies are.
If she wins, I'm outta here. Tahiti, here I come!
Bill won because he was moderate enough to draw the center in and the moderate Republicans.
Hillary can't touch that vote.
i will vote for her to see if she will cheat on bill
Why would I eat my words if she didn't? Think of all the promises politicians make. Are Bill and Hillary the only ones that never followed through? Check out the president we have now. Has he done anything positive for healthcare? For anything? Please tell me. I am interested to know.
I think her chances of getting it pushed through are close to slim and none.
You have to understand that while its her dream, she has to get it past both houses and right now there just isn't enough support to get the job done.
Makes you wonder who will be hiding underneath the table in wait for Hillary? OJ Simpson maybe?
If, by some miracle, she was elected it would be for the same reason they elect ALL presidential candidates. $$$$$$$$$ The person who spends the most gets elected.
Shell be elected because the Republicans are doing a terrible job.
from a Republican who knows
It's a over-simplification to believe Bill was elected because of his advocating national healthcare. The voting public has widely varying reasons, some quite illogical, for who they vote for. Chances are damn good she'll try towards that goal. But again, that isn't her (the)only stance/issue.
Hillary is going to have a very difficult time getting elected. She has to be liberal enough to maintain her financial support from the kook fringe, but then appear moderate enough to win a general election. That may be impossible to pull off.
Certainly not, because Bill Clinton had more agility in foreign policy than Hillary will ever have. Can you imagine talking to a foreign leader while manipulating a cigar in a gratifying
way.
The main reason Bill couldn't do anything with health care was Hilldebeast in the first place.
That and he was constantly defending his lack of morals and having sex with the hired help.
I can't say I will eat my words in that I would still be surprised with Hillary being elected. Naitonal Healthcare ??? comes down to whether everyone is willing to nut up and have the tax increases to cover such a wideencompassing proposal. People complain about taxes, but it is taxes that allow our country to be. run. exisist as it does, yes you can point out a lot of waste but that is why we need to participate , vote and elect officials that clean that crap up like Arnorld! So yeah I guess I will start preparing a nice honey mustard dressing for my words also :)
As long as there is a very strong insurance lobby in place, you think anyone can establish a real national healtcare system for the poor in the U.S.? OMG! As reporter in Mississippi, I met President Clinton when he was just govenor of Arkansas, I also met that prude of a wife of his then. She was standoffish and downright rude, while he had a very natural peopleloving style of attitude! BTW! I am a Democrat and well I ain't real impressed with any candidate of that party! So, no, I don't think she'll ever get it done, so my there'll be no crow in my diet!
Your headline question and follow up are asking different things.
Will Hillary be elected for the same reason as Bill? No. Bill was very charismatic and came of as generally main stream. Hillary is neither.
As for the follow up questions - All candidates and politicians lie - that is are mis quoted or grow in their positions. Any president can only do as much as congress, the courts and the people let them. If average people really want it and congress passes a bill, she will sign it. If not, it will end up like Bush's desire to end the death tax - I wanted to but....
And I have no words to eat - though they would have less calories than those chocolate covered raisins that I want to eat :)
i don't think hilary will be elected, so ....
and IF she was i don't think that she will keep 50% or more of her promises, she is really promising a lot of things that are out of reach
i think the national health care initiative has surfaced b/c of the Michael Moore Movie, SICKO, other wise we wouldn't be discussing it
I have no idea yet who will get my all important vote. I love the answer from...Whodaman!!! Can we vote for Hillary and rest assured Bill will run the office? I would rather have an over sexed President than a LIAR who costs us the lives of our young countrymen and women. That's my own opinion.
Bill did get our country's economy back up after a war fighting President. And I am all for that! I think we need a democrat to come in and clean up our economy! If it's even possible! We are heading for major recession or worse!
Does your dad also recall the fear tactics used by the insurance companies, the TV ads, the references to Socialized medicine, the threats of not being able to choose your doctor, or of having a government official decide your treatment? This country scares easy.
They didn't just get it taken off the table, they creamed her.
Its now twelve years later, no health care, HMOs are awful, an insurance official decides your health care, you are limited to the List of providers, health care costs far surpass the cost of living, and insurers profits go up quarterly as they try to pay out as little as possible.
Despite the socialist name calling I think too many people have lost their coverage due to businesses no longer offering the option, and its being to expensive for middle class families without group coverage. If enough money could be found for Iraq, surely we can find it for our own citizens.
Will I eat my words if it doesn't? No, we get what we ask for, and if we don't make the noise the right will win again and the middle class will go without.
money will buy anybody's election
probable not but there are a lot of dume voters that vote one way or another because someone dumber than them told them to. people say don't vote for so an so because they are or arn't going to do something but it all comes down to somebody else making the decisions and blaming someone else
Hillary may fail on some issues just as Bill did, but wouldn't it be a nice change to have a president with a brain?
The reason that the National health care bill didn't pass last time was not Hillary's fault. She tried like hell to pass it but was swift-boated by the insurance companies. Also, it was a little too complicated for the average American to understand. Now they have simplified it & the only people that are making it complicated are the uninformed idiots that don't know what they're talking about. Rest assured, the insurance companies will try to sabotage it once more...it's up to the public to decide if they're going to fall for their scare tactics again.
Note to Jerry c...Hillary has 50% poll ratings last I looked...that's way ahead of all the other contenders & more than anyone else in recent history. That tells me she has more than just a very good chance of winning.
No, she just won't be elected plain and simple. She has many many skeletons in her closet and even many of the democrats don't like her, my girlfriend is one of them.
Let's not forget White Water and the $28,000 in furniture she stole from the White House.
Hilary will try harder to get the national health coverage bill pass, because she is a woman and women are more pushy!.... We need to see how the country is run at least for 4 years by a women, we need to see some change within this country... come on it cannot be any worst than the war of terror proposed by our current president!
I will vote against her because I believe that health care should remain in the private sector. Government usually screws up everything it gets involved in and the US has some of the best health care in the world right now. I know many people who don't have health insurance because they don't want it even it is available to them.

I don't think we need to ban them, only to ensure that they are safe, leave a paper trail, don't leave 'back doors', etc. We do this by having an independent state commission examine the source code.
