Sacked in less than 2 weeks? Workchoices Johnny.....?

Question: Damn it's tough these laws, I wonder how it feels to know your going to be unemployed in less than 2 weeks......hhehehhehe?
Answers: oh god, hoping and praying, haha!
He won't be counted in the unemployment figures - they don't count discouraged workers . Hopefully, once he's got no power, all the back stabbers will come out of the closet and have him properly done for something really scandalous (AWB knowledge perhaps), he'll be sued silly, he'll lose his parliamentary pension and the value of his investments will crash. Then Janet might have to get a job to support him. mwahahaha

You know how on election nights the winner doesn't claim victory until after the apparent loser concedes defeat? You can just see it - old Mr Vain will be hanging out until the very end and will NEVER concede defeat. We'll probably be up until 2am waiting for Kev to take the stand. That's going to involve a lot of beer so buy an extra slab, everyone!

(Hey Dick E Knee - you got yourself an avatar! Nice one)
Uhhhh okay.
Oh, well. I am sure that little Johnny will be fine. All he needs to do is head down to his local centrelink office.

After lining up for a few hours until finally being served by someone who is overworked and underpaid (and probably not very happy as they have been getting abused all day), he may just be able to get enough unemployment to maybe cover some rent and half a tank of petrol.

But, with that wonderful welfare-to-work program, I am sure he will pick up some rewarding work (probably something mundanely boring but at least he will be contributing).

Bring on the election!!
It is tough, I know, I have been there.
On January 4, 2002, I was called to a meeting at work on my day off. (saw this one coming two days after Christmas 2001)

They told us the company was shutting down and we were to go back to our work station and read our email. We were told we would have a time for our exit interview on that day, or we would have an estimated date when we would be cut loose.

Once you are laid off, go to your local Careers Center, Workforce Office, or whatever they call the unemployment office in your area to file your paper work to start your unemployment checks.

While you are there, they will have you sign up for their free classes to aide you in finding employment again. The classes are free because you already paid for them with your local taxes.

You will discover you are not alone. You will make new friends.

The Careers Center will have classes on résumé and cover letter writing. They will have classes on interviewing and the different types of interviews. They will have mock interview classes where each of you will interview. Then the class members will critique you.

You will find a job similar to the one you had. It will take time. Believe in yourself, and you will be fine.

I have been there and have the T-Shirt to prove it.
Unfortunatley John Howard is not going to feel it as much as regular people out of work. Once he is out he will be earning $345 000 a year which he calls a pension ! I heard this on the radio a few weeks ago. It is always different for prime Ministers and presidents. When they declare war do you think they will be there fighting....or will they be sitting somewhere with maximum security?
Mine welfare payments is less than $300 per weeks..
i have nothing to start with so this fair laws don't give me even opportunis to start in job ..
i been sackeed even before apply for jobs.
they who have much for him will get even more, they who has little will be taken away what liittle he has, that is law.
Yeah i agree. Workchoices may still not be the answer.
What rights do employers have?? ..........
It is getting harder and harder for employers.
I can tell you for a fact that if you are a good worker and do the right thing by the employer you will not be sacked in two weeks. In fact it is difficult to find good employees now and if one is found, they should, and usually are paid accordingly.

I have also had time working for several employers over my career. I have worked worked for one of the Major airline in australia.
The area that i was involved in employed around 50 people. Of which only around half of the people actually worked hard. Mainly to support the other half which were usually on a better wage also. Sounds crazy, i know but this is all thanks to the trade unions.
If workchoices came in whilst i was working there, maybe i would have stayed. Maybe then i could have discussed matters with the managers about my pay and conditions and maybe then they could have done something about it, Rather being restricted by the ridiculous EBA agreements.
I refused to join the union for the entire time i worked there and still refuse to have anything to do with them. And i cant believe most working australians are so gullable to join them.

People still wonder why we are loosing jobs to overseas.
Mainly because production costs are so high,... why?
Because majority of australians (some are honest hard working people) want everything for nothing, and thats why they join trade unions.

It is not John Howards fault because someone got sacked in two weeks, What a load of rubbish. If he was doing the right thing for the employer he wouldnt have a problem.

Unfortunately labor looks like getting into power, unfortunately there are not a lot of business minds amongst any of them. And you will find most of their strings are pulled by unions.
Thus we will find in the very near future that a lot of jobs will be lost overseas.

You can all say what you like........But this is whats going to happen.
The liberal party may not be the answer, they do not have enough balls to stand up to unions either.
God help us
I wonder if Johnny is aware of that yet, but is in denial of it.

But that little crafty man has a bigger problem, who will serve him as most will be on very low pay , and may not even have their job either since work choices, who is going to work over time to serve him.

It will be the best for Australia to see the back of him on the 24th
I'd even enjoy a trip to Sydney to see Johnny sign up at centrelink and have to do the belittling interview at the job network member. Alas since i don't have the money to come to Sydney I will have to wait for the video on you tube. The only saving grace is I might be able to catch one of the other liberals applying instead a little closer to home. 10 days to go Johnny the countdown can't be stopped.
How can we answer this when we don't know the circumstances for all we know you could have been a slack off next time post more information
Hope your right!!
There couldn't be a better example of poetic justice.
Hang on maybe he could go back to work until he is 70 like he wanted all the other pensioners to do to save taxpayers money even better send Jeanette out to work I bet she has never worked a day in her life.
jarrod, I wish you would understand the question rather than just read it.
Howard is going in 2 weeks, Gone, finished , Goodbye.
I will bet there will be a tear in your eye when he publicly farewells Australia. I will be cheering from the Grandstand. Guess he will have to find the nearest CentreLink. You little Beauty .
Ahh well, he made his choice didn't he when the Coalition gave us WorkChoices. I just wonder what was going through their minds when they came up with that one? I always think of a particular episode of Red Dwarf where the crew have to justify their existence to themselves. It's an interesting concept and I wonder if any of the Coalition would be able to justify their own actions to themselves.
