Should we know about the presidential candidates mental health before electing them?
Question: http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/print.as...
Answers: Yes, the voters have the right to know the mental health of the cadidates to a public office. Finding out later that the candidate IS mental would be disastrous.
Mental stress can effect anyone Presidents notwithstanding. I would think that all important decision makers in government should undertake mental and health examinations every 3 or 6 months by a panel of doctors and findings should be open to public or a select house committee.
Take for example, Adolf Hitler, I think he was insane, or Saddam Hussein, they were all drunk with power to the point of insanity. In my opinion voters should be informed of the cadidates mental and health conditions before they vote.
It's probably not a good precedent to set. Hopefully we can figure it out without demanding medical records.
This is total BS
The white house doctor can not and would not release what medications he was giving the President.
Even politicians have some right to privacy.
why? they are all mental anyways
It can be a big deal. If you ever watched the show The West Wing they found out the President covered up his MS when he was running for President and his doctor wife secretly gave him medications and it they turned it into this whole lawsuit about voter fraud, and they ended up censuring him.
yes might have presented 8 yrs of this crap in the white house
Actually, considering how badly he screwed up, it makes me feel better about his sanity that he is depressed.
If you screw up time after time after time and in such a public way, wouldn't YOU be depressed?
absolutely. I think they need a real medical eval prior to running.
War mania in the US President aspirants is a thing requires thorough psycho analysis . Lie detection to trace hidden agenda is another aspect particularly when some one aspires to come to power to settle old scores based on private revenge at enormous public expense. An independent medical board of impeccable integrity requires creation.
You mean like Hillary.

I don't believe that information. It's clear the man is a sociopath. And I simply can't believe sociopaths are also prone to depression.
knowing their mental health may be difficult. we could check their personality factors though. there are readily available tests on these. Let's test their leadership skills, honesty and most specially their work ethics. What drives them and what are their tendencies in life. I think that would help us decide who is the better man.
Yes. Everyone running for public office should have to take a drug test just like millions of Americans do before they are hired.
At 72 Ronnie Raygun's Alzheimer's was just coming out of the shadows as he rode the White House lawn tractor handing over the decision making to Weinberger, Shultz, Rumsfeld, Cheney and other original '80s neocons. Bush '43 was recruited by George Schultz and others to fill the dummy role for this 8 year presidency, but with the assistance of rigged elections and a 2nd Coming of Christ thrown in for good measure. Raygun's version was an 8 year acid trip, Bush doesn't need LSD he's all natural.
Well, back in '72, McGovern's vice-presidential running mate, Larry Eagleton, was unceremoniously dropped when it was learned that he had been going to a psychologist.
I would say that it depends on the nature of their mental health issues. If they have addictive habits that they have failed to stop--like smoking or biting one's nails--I would say no. If they suffer from occasional bouts of depression, probably not, either. If on the other hand they were on major psychotropic drugs, it's probably a good thing to know about.
That story you refer to is quite old, by the way...
Cheers.
Bill Clinton refused to release any of his medical records. Go ask him why...
Definitely a big yes,and no questions asked. The man who is going to be at the helm of affairs of a nation, and whose decisions are going to have a profound effect on the lives of millions, must be in his prime of physical and mental health.Imagine the fate of the passengers on an airliner, whose pilot is not mentally sound.
In most cases employers ask that you go take a drug test and a physical. In some places where your job can put others lives in jeopardy they have to take mental evaluations like at NASA...not that that always helps.
In my opinion I think that the person running the United States should take what others are required to do. At least we would have some idea if the person is ready to take on the job of making life or death decisions like war.
Absolutely. I think after Bush it should be made a requirement for all presidential candidates.

As to the second part, there is no authority to appoint someone to fill a vacancy in a house seat. When a house seat is vacant, it stays vacant
