How do you get the most from volunteering at a political campaign? people who have done it, what did you get?
Question: out of it? i mean, did you get a job or did you make good contacts? of course, its not all about that. i would like to work for someone in CA. Hey does anyone know if Barbara Lee in CA has a reelection campaign?
Answers: I got the best stuff out of it. I got to see stuff that happens behind the scenes, participate in one-on-one or group meetings on the issues with the candidate, and you actually can mention to the candidate about jobs, but there are websites that you can actually apply for them. You go through an interview and hiring process like anyone else.
Once you get the grassroots experience on a campaign, you can get a job with your state's or county's party. This leads to jobs for the candidate.
Overall, it was a really wonderful experience for me !
I volunteered for the Kerry/Edwards campaign in 2004. I met a few paid people who worked on the campaign. I did not get a job or anything like that from it. But I did get a feeling of helping my candidate get his message out and attracting some voters to him.
I got laid many times
President Kennedy said ask not what you're country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. But let's face the fact. Most Americans are selfish.
In fact, less than 13% of us bothered to put our lives on the line in military service to our nation. It seems most Americans are preoccupied with what they can get out of something rather than what they can give or how they can contribute.
I've been active in politics for all of my adult life (back to age 14) and I've heard all the whiny excuses most people give for being failing examples of exemplary citizenship. You might have heard of something some people call apathetic. I just call it was it is - pathetic.
Most people will never fully grasp the concept of giving without reciprocation. They will go to their grave without undestanding what it is to give freely and the tremendous benefits that come as a result of having mastered that art. A small minority understands the true benefits, not just the meaning, of loving stewardship. The question is: will you ever be one of those few?
