If a person cuts the car tires of a person who drives drunk, could this count as community service?

Answers: it should
Don't think so, more like vandalism.
I've got no problem with it. I'll give you the knife
No, it counts as vandalism and destrction of personal property.
lol i dont think so
No, It is breaking the law. Why not just take the keys from the person instead of throwing away about $500?
Don't think so but thats pretty funny.
It is still against the law, but I like the ironic sense of justice.
Legally no, but keeping a drunk from getting behind the wheel of a car and driving is DEFINITELY doing the community a favor. Maybe you could find a less destructive means of keeping a drunk from driving, like taking his keys away or clogging his exhaust pipes or disconnecting his battery -- you know, something that doesn't cause any damage and is easy to fix...
No. Holding his keys for him, maybe.
Wouldn't that be a great thing!!!! I would sign off that you did your community service.
well it should! they'll probably still drive on the flats, tho
No it would be more like destruction of private property !
No. But it may be considered an accessory to the accident. A drunk person will most likely drive the car anyway not realizing the car's tires have been slashed. Therefore creating an accident that may have been avoided. Weird enough, plenty out there drive drunk and make it home without incident. Doesn't mean it is right though for them to drive drunk in the first place. You could, however, rip their wiring out!! Then they wouldn't be able to start the car!!
no, this is not a service it is a criminal act. if you don't want him to drive drunk, then you should drive him or if he refuses and drives off then you should notify the police and let the law take care of it.
Too bad you would still be charged w/ a crime
kinda drastic isnt it.why not just take the keys away?on the other hand, drunks are hard to deal with and it could save lives.you would be like robin hood,a good crimanal
no, you'll just have a drunk driving around on rims. why would someone care about tires when they have no regard for life.
The way things are set up now, I'm sure you would get fined for at destruction of property, or something similar (we live in a day and age when a robber can sue a home owner for hurting himself in the middle of a job), but it WOULD nonetheless be a community service, at least in my book. Maybe just let the air out...
Technically it's vandalism, but I'm all for it. Anything to keep drunk
drivers off the road and other people alive.
If you want to do somethimg like that, dont you think letting the air out of the tires is a less expensive way to go ? All kidding aside, you would get arrested & have to pay a fine as well as the tires you destroyed.
I would think there are better ways of handling the problem!!! Tires can be replaced and he will DWI again. Call the police, and let him sit in jail for a while, that may make him think about driving drunk again!!!
No
It is considered vandalism or destruction of private property, no matter how well intentioned.
Technically no, though most of us wish it would. Technically person cutting tires better not get caught, or it is legally vandalism. What if the cut in tire doesn't accomplish what the cutter thinks it will, & the drunk driver has a blow out causing an accident that takes another human beings life? Then what?
I don't think so.
