What can we do to change the fact that disabled vets get poorer health care than disabled who have not served.

Question: Its pretty bad. The drugs available to most are not available to vets. Many say getting treated by the VA gives one a second chance to die for their country. If you do not live near a center still you must travel to gat care. At one time b4 Bush this was not true. These Vets are spending a lot of time in war zones when they get out they are gonna need life long psychiatric care and help keeping employment.
Answers: It is possible to get as good or better health care but you need an advocate to do so.

I would like to see them start by hiring better doctors. At least doctors who can speak English. Next let's get rid of the 1950's equipment and update the facilities.

To blame Bush (alone) for this is not right though. The system has been corroding since the 1960's. Few presidents did much to stop it.
I am disabled. I didnt serve but I wanted to. I have no healthcare at all, no dental care, and I dont make enough money to pay for those things.
It would be more correct to say that people on social security disability get better health care that veterans. The way veterans and servicemen and woman are treated is a public disgrace. Hopefully, the next administration will correct this horror.
The VA health system is my biggest piece of evidence as to why we should never ever have a government run medical program. The President had no bearing on the VA moving sites around and who did or did not get benefits. That was all congress and decided long before Bush got into office. Actually I've seen more facilities open near me to support the veterans. Of course this is a pet project of my congresswoman, so we are sitting pretty well. As well as you can for an inefficiently ran organization. I couldn't imagine using them as my primary source of medicine. Those that want socialized medicine need to hang out around a VA hospital for a while. That will change their tune quick.
