What % of Dem's have been Repub's at some point, vs. Repub's who have been Dem's? Or Libs vs. Cons switches?

Answers: I started off voting Republican (Reagan in '84), switched to Democrat ('88-'96), voted Green (Nader in 2000) and voted for a Democrat (not Kerry) in 2004. I lean, surprisingly, to the right. I've always considered myself a liberal until I learned what classic conservativism is. I am more conservative than a lot of self-proclaimed conservatives. I believe in small government and reduced debt (thus the Clinton votes in '92 and '96) less government restrictions (Nader 2000), and a strong military (thus my vote against Kerry and Bush in '04), all classic conservative traits.

The terms liberal and conservative have little meaning anymore. True liberalism would be socialism or communism, and these parties are not as active in the US as they are in Europe.
That is a very good question. I would guess about maybe 10% each side. Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat that turned to the Republican party.
I don't know the %, but I switched from Democrat to Independent, leaning more to the right.
Not sure but they say that you are Liberal when you are young and Conservative when you are old. Well its not because older people are wiser and turn con. each generation exceeds the past.
I was a registered Democrat and am now a registered Republican (Clinton's doing.) However, I would have gone independent but I wanted say in the primaries. I think Republican primaries are between more varied people than are Democrat primaries.

I vote independently, though.
Not sure of the Percentages.......

Personally....I switched from Democrat to Independent during the Clinton Yrs....I didnt like the road the party was going down.....
You can't tell because once you reregister to vote, the old party registration is purged along with your changes in name or address. You can register as anything you want. But most of the people in this country are what their parents or were.
There is an old saying that goes like this, Every rich republican was first a poor democrat.
Not really sure but, the two party system needs to be put out of it's misery.
